The D2 visa is a Portugal residency visa for entrepreneurs. To get one, an applicant must open a new company or buy an already working business or its share.
No minimum investment threshold is defined for the d2 visa. However, an applicant must prove to have funds to start and run their business in Portugal.

The initial residency is granted for 2 years. Then you can it can be renewed for another 3 years. After 5 years of residency, you can apply for Portugal citizenship or permanent residency in Portugal. An entrepreneur’s full family can get residency and citizenship as a dependent. To qualify for citizenship you must stay in Portugal for 6 months every year.

In order to secure the Portugal Self-Supporting Visa, the process can take up to 12 weeks. We advise a 3-month time frame, however in some circumstances, if a client has a particularly strong case, we may be able to process their application within 45-60 days.
